Airsoft Weapons - realistic replicas, automatic assault weapons, pistols.
Airsoft weapons are faithful replicas of real weapons. They work on the principle of compressed air and fire projectiles consisting of rigid plastic pellets (of 0.12 g – 0.43 g). These replicas are used for practicing shooting and for airsoft, and can be purchased only by persons aged 18 and over.
Airsoft weapons are divided into 3 categories:
- Spring-powered airsoft guns
- Gas-powered airsoft guns
- Electric-powered airsoft guns
SPRING-POWERED GUNS
Semi-automatic weapons are generally spring guns. By pulling back the slide of a pistol, a cylinder compresses a spring. When the user presses the trigger, the spring is released and the air resulting hits and propels the pellet. Spring-powered guns are among the most accurate and reliable of all the airsoft weapons.
GAS-POWERED GUNS
Gas guns use for propulsion a compressed mixture of gas and silicone, also known as green gas. Most gas guns are semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons. Gas blowback models use gas to launch the pellet and recoil the top slide of the gun, simulating the action of a real weapon.
ELECTRIC-POWERED GUNS
Most electric guns are semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons. The weapons are driven by an electric motor that sets to work an entire mechanism (commonly known as gearbox). This motor cycles an internal piston in order to launch pellets. Electric guns are powered by Ni-Cd / Ni-MH/Li-po batteries. These weapons too are very reliable.
HOP-UP SYSTEM
In order to increase the accuracy of an airsoft gun, specialists invented the hop-up system.
Hop-Up or Spin-Up System makes the pellet spin while passing through the barrel, offsetting the effect of gravity on the pellet and propelling it further.
OTHER TERMS COMMONLY USED IN AIRSOFT
Blowback?
Type of weapon operation that makes an electric or gas gun’s top slide recoil, simulating a real weapon
FPS?
FPS means feet per second. It expresses the speed at which the pellet exits the barrel of a weapon.
Fully automatic mode
A fully automatic weapon loads and fires the pellets from the moment you press the trigger until the trigger is released (or the ammunition is over).
Semi-automatic mode
A semi-automatic weapon fires one pellet per pull of the trigger.
AIRSOFT MANUFACTURERS
Depending on the quality of their products, there are three main categories of manufacturers:
- • Manufacturers that produce professional replica weapons that weigh exactly the same as the real ones, have an excellent trigger response, have each a Unique Registration Number and whose brand guarantees you a high quality product. Most companies producing them are Japanese and have a great tradition for quality airsoft weapons, which can be seen in the high detail execution and the reliability of their products. We can include in this category companies like SYSTEMA, CLASSIC ARMY, G&P, G&G ARMAMENT, TOKIO MARUI, ARES,ACTION, INOKATSU, MARUSHIN and others..
- • Manufacturers that produce good quality and reliable weapons under the license of great companies and that are generally headquartered in China or Hong Kong. They too use quality materials, like metal, wood or ABS, but the weapons they produce are less reliable than those from the first category, don’t have Unique Registration Numbers etc. Instead, they have another advantage. They are relatively cheap, although some of them are strong, being capable of shooting up to 120 m/s. They are a good choice for beginners or for those who want to allocate for this a more limited budget, these weapons also being our best sold ones. We include in this category companies like AGM, DBOYS ,A&K, JG, CYMA, KART and others.
- • Manufacturers that produce cheap airsoft weapons, most of them out of plastic, designed mainly for countries whose legislation allows the use of pellets whose energy limit is 0.6 joules and that can be sold at very low prices. A lot of Romanian clients, not knowing the technical characteristics of these weapons, were tempted by the low prices and by the resemblance of these weapons (shown in the picture) with the other ones and made the mistake of purchasing such products. They are usually sold only on the Internet, so that their quality can be hardly verified. We won’t give examples of such producers, as we don’t want to influence anyone.
At DEFENSE SCHOOL you will find only products from the first two categories, as we respect our clients and want to promote professional airsoft in Romania.
